Panerai returns to its root beginnings to celebrate Radiomir prototype
For more than a century, the Panerai family’s legacy has been interlaced with precision instruments designed for the exploits of the German army.
Commissioned by the Italian Royal Dark blue to provide high-precision instruments, Guido Panerai started it all if he was patented in 1916 for Radiomir, a radium-based substance that glowed after dark to improve visibility.
An archival receipt demonstrates that the Radiomir prototype opened their gates in 1935 and the meal structure was adapted over time and is now made from merely two stacked plates. Additional improvements include a crown defender and a new luminous compound called Luminor. It was a wristwatch produced strictly for the navy, which used it until the early on 1970s, and its design has been protected by military secrecy.
Part of the Radiomir Officine family, Panerai provides launched a limited edition enjoy with redesigned elements that will bring its aesthetic deeper than ever to its beginnings. The watch comes with a polished stainless steel 45 millimeter case with a signature tapered crown, a brown matte skeleton dial with hr markers and numerals simply at twelve and half a dozen o'clock, and beige Super-Luminova® The material glows green at midnight.
